Mrs. Elinor (Kee) Marcou of Waltham died Saturday, September 27, 2003 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 82.
Born in Woburn, a daughter of the late Harrison E. and Kathryn (Roche) Kee, she lived in Portsmouth, NH before moving to Waltham 55 years ago.
She was the loving wife of the late Jack Marcou with whom she co-founded Marcou Jewelers in Waltham and where she continued to work daily. Together with her husband she was involved with many local charitable and philanthropic endeavors and she was the recipient of the Robert and Thomas McNamara Community Involvement Award, the Waltham Police Association ‘Couple of the Year’ award, the 10/24 Community Service Award and she was named a Rotary Club ‘Paul Harris Fellow’. Her greatest joy however was to live, to love and to laugh with her ten children, twenty-eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom could proudly say that ‘to know her, was to love her’.
She was the cherished mother of Maralee Burke and her husband Tom, Robert and his wife Cheryl, Randy and his wife Nancy, Dick and his wife Cheryl, Kenneth and his wife Ramona, Sheila LeBlanc and her husband Peter, Kathryn Arseneau and her husband Gerard, all of Waltham, David and his wife Donna of New Seabury, Steven and his wife Kelli of Wilmington and Douglas and his wife Andrea of Belmont; a devoted grandmother to David, Darren, Dennis, Derek, Amanda, Melanie, Monica, Daniel, Alycia, Shannon, Justin, Whitney, Jordan, Kyle, Zachary, Brittany and Jonathan Marcou, Thomas, Pamela, Brenda, and Kevin Burke, Melissa, Peter, and Kaitlyn LeBlanc, Lindsey, Nick, Darren and Jennifer Arseneau and ‘Great-Grammie’ to 12. She was also the sister of Nancy Croteau, Kenneth Kee and the late Col. Harrison E. Kee, USAF and leaves several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Wednesday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
Visiting hours are Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
