Waltham – Mrs. Agnes D. (McLaughlin) Monahan, of Waltham, died at home on Tuesday, May 12, 2015. She was 72.
Agnes was born in Waltham on October 14, 1942, a daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Ormond) McLaughlin, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Waltham High School and Northeastern University in Boston. She had been a longtime member of the Waltham Democratic City Committee.
The wife of the late Brian T. Monahan and she leaves her children, Ruth B. George and her husband, Edward, of Sudbury, Jacqueline A. Monahan and her husband, John Coy, of Easton, and Brian M. Monahan and his wife, Rhonda, of Lexington; her grandchildren, Aaron George, Tyler George, Shane George, JP Coy, Evan Coy, Lisa French, and Keira Monahan; her brother, Charles B. McLaughlin and his wife, Rose, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina ; her brother-in-law, John Monahan; her sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Curtis and Jeanette Gronberg; her beloved friend, Christine Cosgrove; many nieces and nephews and her cherished dogs, Denny and Buddy.
Family and friends will honor and remember Agnes' life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, May 17th, from 3 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
