Waltham - Mr. Albert H. Goodwin Jr., of Waltham, died Thursday, December 19, 2013 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 85.
He was born in Newark, New Jersey on September 23, 1928 a son of the late Albert and Gertrude Goodwin. He married Mary T. Kelley on July 7, 1957. He was married to Mary for 48 years until her death on November 17, 2005. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and continued his work as an ejection seat mechanic for many years. Upon retirement from the military he worked as a truck driver for various trucking companies including Lopez Trucking.
He remained loyal to his native New Jersey and was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan. He also loved photography and was dubbed the family photographer for all events. Other interests included model planes and Nascar racing.
Albert is predeceased by his wife, Mary and his siblings, Dorothy Brothers, Joseph and William Goodwin.
He leaves his children, Jean M. Morin and her husband, Rejean of Waltham, Mark A. Goodwin of Norwood and Theresa A. Walker of Waltham; his grandchildren, Cari Morin of Seattle, Josh Morin of New Hampshire, Maureen Conzo, Melanie, Melissa and Matthew Walker, all of Waltham; also survived by 6 great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Albert's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, December 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Tuesday morning when his funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at 12:45 p.m. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
