Waltham - Mr. Albert B. Kilmain, of Waltham, died Friday, October 7, 2011 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 81.
Albert was born in Framingham on May 28, 1930, a son of the late Albert B. and Eveleen (Perodeau) Kilmain. He was raised in Wellesley and was a graduate of Wellesley High School and served with the 6th Infantry Division of the United States Army. He and his family moved to Waltham in 1956.
His professional career began as a meat cutter and later mail room coordinator for the former Underwood Devil Ham Company in Watertown where he worked for over 33 years. When the company moved its operations to Missouri he took a job as mail room coordinator for Welch Corporation in Concord for 11 years, retiring in 1995.
His interests were varied. In his earlier years he was a champion bowler and was a talented furniture repairman and finisher. His family always had a pet dog and he had a special love for beagles.
Albert leaves his wife of 55 years, Ellen P. 'Pat' (Weagle) Kilmain; his sons, Richard A. Kilmain of East Falmouth, David A. Kilmain and his wife, Moira, of Woburn and Christopher C. Kilmain of Melbourne, Florida; his grandchildren, Celia, Rose, Matthew and Connor Kilmain; his siblings, Steven Kilmain and his wife, Nancy, of Madbury, New Hampshire, Evelene Locke of Wayland and Marilyn Jenkins and her husband, James, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Phelps.
Family and friends will honor and remember Albert's life by gathering to visit at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, October 12th, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where his funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Needham.
