Albert B. Landry

Mr. Albert B. Landry, of Waltham, died on Thursday, October 17th, 2013 in Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge. He was 87.

Al was born in Fitchburg on June 4, 1926, a son of the late Frederick and Blanche (Therien) Landry and was raised in Winooski, Vermont. At the outbreak of World War II he joined the United States Navy and served as a coxswain on a landing craft in the Pacific for the duration of the war.

After the war Al married his sweetheart, Waltham native Lucy A. Gullotti, on April 20, 1947 in Saint Mary's Church. They settled in Waltham and were lifelong residents. Al was a carpenter by trade and worked for a number of years building homes in the area. After that he went to work as a master carpenter and locksmith at Brandeis University in Waltham where he retired after thirty-six years. Al loved to be outdoors and was happiest when camping at Grandview Campground in Rochester, New Hampshire. For many years he and Lucy spent winters at their home in Safety Harbor, Florida. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Parish where he served as an usher and was also a member of the VFW John M. Sullivan Post 10334 and the American Legion Post 156 in Waltham.

The husband of the late Lucy A. (Gullotti) Landry, he leaves his children, Sandra A. Walazek and her husband, David, Debra A. Vautour and her husband, Frederick, Albert B. Landry, Jr., and his wife, Lynne and Richard F. Landry and his wife, Andrea, all of Waltham and is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Anita Carpinelli and Annette Gullotti.

Family and friends will honor and remember Al's life by gathering for calling hours on Tuesday, October 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
