Albert J. "Rocky" Marqus

Albert J. “Rocky” Marqus, of Plymouth, died Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. He was 73.

Rocky was born in Waltham on November 21, 1951, a son of the late Daniel and Doris (Mazochi) Marqus. A graduate of Waltham High School, he had been a lifelong resident before moving to Plymouth eight years ago.

Until his retirement Rocky worked for more than thirty-four years for the City of Waltham Water Department, most recently as the video pipeline inspector.

Rocky was a lifelong baseball enthusiast and served for years on the board of directors of the Waltham Connie Mack Baseball League. He loved the Beatles and kept in touch with family and friends as one of the early adopters of Facebook.

He was the husband of the late Patricia A. (Ryberg) Marqus; step-father of the late Sandra L. Englehart and a brother of the late William and Thomas Marqus.

He leaves his step-daughter, Jennifer D. Englehart of Waltham; his step-son-in-law, Reggie Butler of Plymouth; his grandchildren, Zoe and Rayna Butler and John Englehart; his sisters and brothers, Lorraine Bissett of Ohio, Daniel Marqus of Haverhill, Nancy Silva of Waltham and Christopher Marqus of Sudbury and several nieces, nephews and their families.

Family and friends will honor and remember Rocky’s life by gathering for a Morning Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Saturday, February 15th from 8 to 10 a.m. followed by his Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
