Albina G. Straggas

Waltham - Mrs. Albina G. (Duggan) (McQuillan) Straggas, of Waltham, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 92.

Albina was born in Worcester on April 26, 1918, a daughter of the late Thomas and Beatrice (Staneviciute) Duggan and had lived many years in Allston before moving to Waltham in 1977. She had worked as a dietitian for Brigham and Women’s Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Waltham Senior Citizens and the American Association of Retires Persons.

She was the wife of the late Peter J. Straggas, mother of the late Phyllis Jean McQuillan and sister of the late Eve Peredna and Ruth Ramsdell.

Albina leaves two sons, Charles McQuillan of Waltham and Thomas McQuillan of Plymouth; two sisters, Lillian Nusibickel of Florida and Phyllis O’Malley of Worcester; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Albina’s life by gathering to visit in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Tuesday morning, March 15th, from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery.
