Waltham Retired Boston Firefighter Albion E. Burke of Waltham died Thursday, October 16, 2003 at Maristhill Nursing Home. He was 81. Born in Brighton, a son of the late John P. and Mary I. (Vienneau) Burke, he lived in Brighton before moving to Waltham in 1963. He was a graduate of Brighton High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war he joined the Boston Fire Department in February, 1946 and his career spanned forty years where he served at Engine Company 22 at Tremont Street in Boston and later at Fire Department headquarters. He retired in June, 1987. Mr. Burke was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters, Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 in Waltham, and PFC John M. Sullivan USMC VFW Post No. 10334 in Waltham. He leaves his wife, Freda S. (Pennucci) Burke, his sons, Steven E. Burke of Medway, Robert A. Burke of Franklin and Richard W. Burke of Brighton; his grandchildren, Michael J., Jennifer, Jared S., Christopher R., Cheryl A., Lisa N., Michelle L. and Matthew R. Burke; one brother, John Burke of Moss Point, MS; one sister, Loretta Downey of Eliot, ME and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Helen Mealey. The Funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline. Visiting hours are Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m
