Aldo Ferranti

May 25, 1949 — January 23, 2017

Waltham – Mr. Aldo Ferranti, of Waltham, died Monday, January 23, 2017 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He was 67.

Aldo was born in Cambridge on May 25, 1949, a son of Lillian (Westcott) Ferranti and the late Aldo A. Ferranti, and moved as a child with his family to Watertown. He was a 1967 graduate of Watertown High School.

On July 2, 1972 he married his sweetheart, Watertown native Frances Guzzetti, in Saint Theresa's Church. Eleven years later the pair moved to Waltham where they raised their family and have lived since. Until his retirement Aldo worked for forty years as a supervisor for the Standard Thomson Corporation in Waltham.

Aldo took great care of his family and his home. His neighbors can attest that in the good weather his lawn was Fenway Park quality . . . green, lush and sometimes mowed in two directions. He was the go-to guy in the family who not only had the tools but knew how to use them. Aldo could make or repair almost anything.

Around the house music could be heard playing from almost every room and in season he rooted for all the Boston sports teams. Summers were spent enjoying the Cape at Craigville Beach.

And as happy and busy and accomplished as Aldo's life was nothing compared to his joy when his sweethearts, his five granddaughters, walked into the room. The world would stop turning on its axis, projects would pause and the day would turn into "Papa" time.

In addition to his wife of forty-five years, Fran, and his mother, Lillian, Aldo leaves his children, Waltham Fire Lieutenant Damon J. Ferranti and his wife, Dorothy, and Waltham Police Detective Jason D. Ferranti and his wife, Carrie; his granddaughters, Mia, Kaiya, Isabella, Paige and Eliza Ferranti; his brothers, John Ferranti and his wife, Rose, of Florida and Joseph Ferranti and his wife, Mary, of Waltham; his brother and sisters-in-law, George and Teresa Dennison of Watertown and Louisa Wellington of Osterville and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Aldo's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, January 27th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Cambridge Cemetery.
