Waltham - Mr. Alfred J. Cortinovieri, of Waltham, died Thursday, September 20, 2007 in the Soldiers Home in Chelsea. He was 90. Born in Boston, Mr. Cortinovieri had lived in Waltham for many years. He was employed by the City of Somerville in the school department for thirty-eight years. Mr. Cortinovieri served with the United States Army during World War II. He was an assistant gunner who brought up ammunition for weapons and was part of the initial assault on Anzio. Mr. Cortinovieri his survived by his wife, Mary V. (Greco) Cortinovieri; his stepson, John P. Maguranis of Waltham; his stepdaughter, Judith A. Brown of Merrimack, New Hampshire and his step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Brown, Paul J.Maguranis and Calvin S. Maguranis. The Funeral will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
