Mr. Alfred T. Maticic, of Watertown, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in the Epoch Nursing Center in Weston. He was 73.
Mr. Maticic was born in Milford on January 24, 1938, a son of the late John and Mary (Burnick) Maticic. Al was a graduate of Bellingham High School and has lived in Watertown for the past forty-five years. He also served in the United States Army.
He had worked for twenty-three years for Western Electric, now At & T, until retiring in 1993. On a Saturday night he met Ann F. Lapenta at an evening dance at Moseley's on the Charles in Dedham. After a courtship they married on September 28, 1963 in Saint Gabriel's Church in Brighton.
He and his family summered at their home in Albion, Maine. Al had an affinity for antique cars, especially his 1955 Studebaker Speedster.
He is survived by his wife, Ann F. (Lapenta) Maticic; his daughter, Lynn A. Martin and her husband, Scott, of Framingham; his sister, Jennie Barry of Old Saybrook, Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews.
Al was also the brother of the late Matilda Amotte, John Maticic, and Lillian Fitzgerald.
Family and friends will honor and remember Al’s life by gathering for his calling hours on Thursday from 4-8 pm in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham and again on Friday at 10 am before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick’s Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Watertown.
