Alice E. LeBlanc

April 2, 1927 — April 21, 2014

Waltham – Mrs. Alice E. LeBlanc, of Waltham, died Monday, April 21, 2014 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was 87.

Alice was born in Wedgeport, Nova Scotia on April 2, 1927, a daughter of the late Marc Ellis and Adele (Pothier) LeBlanc and came to the States in 1956. A year later she and her husband, Delphis, moved to Waltham where they made their home. During her kids growing up years she became a talented seamstress and quilter.

Until she retired five years ago she worked for more than twenty years as a child care provider at Little Souls Center for Children in Waltham. She worked mostly in the 'infant room', providing tender loving care to those in her charge and becoming the 'grandmother' figure in the group; always able to rock and sing the youngsters into their naps.

At home Alice learned to work an iPad like an expert; she loved music of all kinds, most recently listening to Christmas hymns, anything by Lawrence Welk and her favorite ballad, Louis Armstrong's 'What a Wonderful World'.

Alice's husband, Delphis J. LeBlanc died on May 6, 1995.

She leaves her children, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Joseph M. LeBlanc, USA, and his wife, Sheila, of Franklin and Claire M. LeBlanc of Waltham; her grandchildren, Coryrose, Joseph and Katie LeBlanc; her sisters, Agnes Davenport and Augusta Corrin, both in Ontario and many nieces and nephews.

Alice was also a sister of the late Dorothy Babin, Francis LeBlanc and Bernice Fox.

Family and friends will honor and remember Alice's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, April 25th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

At a later date her body will be brought home to Wedgeport where she will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Michael's Parish Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Little Souls Center for Children, 200 Fifth Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.
