Alice Logan's almost hundred years on earth can be summed up in five words . . . life . . . love . . . faith . . . family . . . friendship.
She was born in Waltham on August 22, 1919, a daughter of the late Daniel E. and Alice G. (Bradley) O'Mara. She grew up with five brothers in a busy household where all the kids worked at one time or another for their Dad who managed the First National Store on Moody Street. She was a lifetime resident and a 1937 graduate of Saint Mary's High School.
Alice was a longtime parishioner of Saint Charles Borromeo Church on Hall Street where she, along with other members of the parish, could best be described as the blood and the bone of the Church. She was always willing, able and eager to help whenever she was called and at various times served on the parish council, bazaar committee, 1000 Club committee and enjoyed years of friendships with the Sodality bowling league.
She later worked for years at the circulation desk at the Waltham Public Library and had been a member of the board of directors of the Waltham Municipal Employees Credit Union.
Mrs. Alice G. (O'Mara) (McInnis) Logan, of Waltham, died Friday, November 23, 2018 at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. She was 99.
The wife of the late John T. Logan and Charles F. McInnis she leaves her children, Dr. Charles T. McInnis (Kathleen) of Framingham and Alyce Anne Crook (Robert) of Wayland; her grandchildren, Daniel McInnis (Catherine), Paul McInnis (Dr. Jill Carmody), Elizabeth Slattery (Justin), Charles McInnis, Jr., Juliana McInnis, Jennifer Crook, Claire Castagno (Tyler) and Robert Charles Crook; her great-grandchildren, Madelyn and William McInnis, Austin and Graham Slattery, Avery and Joseph Castagno; her step-children, Francis Logan (Eileen) of Marlboro, John Logan, Jr. (Denise) of Waltham, Richard Logan (Sharon) of Acton, Robert Logan (Paula) of Waltham, Mark Logan (Desiree) of Assonet, Joan Fredericks (Edward) of Waltham, Patricia Haverty (Ronald) of Woburn and Elizabeth Ferro of Chatham; her sister-in-law, Mary O'Mara and many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
Alice was also the sister of the late Paul, Joseph, Richard, Daniel and Thomas O'Mara.
Family and friends will honor and remember Alice's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, November 27th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Chapel, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
