Andrea M. (LeBlanc) Aucoin, of Chelmsford, a former longtime Waltham resident, died Tuesday, January 9, 2024 in Emerson Hospital in Concord after an illness. She was 81.
Andrea Marie LeBlanc was born on September 15, 1942 one of ten children to the late Denis and Melinda (LeBlanc) LeBlanc. Raised and educated in Belliveau Village, Memramcook, New Brunswick she immigrated to the United States in 1960. She married Joseph A. Aucoin on June 27, 1964 in the former Saint Joseph’s Church. Longtime Waltham residents they moved to Chelmsford in 2019.
In addition to raising her children she worked for Unitrode, Clevite Corporation and A.J. Wright Co.
Andrea looked forward to her annual trips ‘down home’ to her native Canada to visit with her large extended family and network of friends. She kept busy on her iPad, completing puzzles and crosswords, watching her daily soap operas and staying apprised by reading her weekly soap opera digest. She was a fanatic New England sports enthusiast and followed her teams religiously and knew the player and team statistics almost as well as many of the coaches. Andrea never earned her driver’s license and welcomed the Sunday drives with Joe and others to various parts of New England. A doting grandmother she was their cheerleader at their numerous sporting events including hockey, baseball, dance and cheerleading. A quiet listener she will also be remembered for her gift to gab!
She leaves her husband, Joseph, she leaves her children, Arthur J. Aucoin (Denise) of Westminster, Paul J. Aucoin (Kelly) of Waltham, Robert J. Aucoin (Reneé) of Waltham and Theresa M. Cormier (Donny) of Chelmsford; her grandchildren, Amanda Aucoin, Jessica Aucoin, Nicholas Aucoin (Stephanie), Jason Cormier, Kristen Cormier, Ethan Aucoin; her siblings, Marie LeLievre (Rene “Guy”) of Billerica, Ana Nowlan (John) of New Bruswick, Canada, Alderic LeBlanc (Diane) of Hudson, Rita Aucoin (late Sam) of Northbridge, Raymond LeBlanc (Marie) of Orange, Michael LeBlanc (Joan) of Waltham, Gerald LeBlanc (Christine) of Lowell, Edger LeBlanc (Tina) of Marlboro and the late Delina Doiron (late Gerald); also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Andrea’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham Monday, January 15th from 3 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial is private.
