Waltham – Mrs. Anita (Jackman) Kanis of Waltham died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 85. Born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland, Canada, she had lived in Waltham for many years. Mrs. Kanis was a bookkeeper for the UPS Chemical Company in Cambridge for many years. Mrs. Kanis was the daughter of the late Augustine and Charlotte (Walsh) Jackman and the sister of the late Mazie Dwyer, Mona Martin, and Daniel, Raymond, George, Kevin, Patrick, and Michael Jackman. She is survived by her husband, William Kanis, her brother, Gus Jackman of Newfoundland; her sister, Nellie Caul of Newfoundland, and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, January 7, at 12 Noon in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visitation will be held on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham from 11:00 to 11:45 am. Donations in Mrs. Kanis' memory to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
