Ann S. (Porter) Carey, Waltham passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 90.
Born on February 18, 1934, in Brockton, Ann was the beloved daughter of the late Harold and Gladys (Stilwell) Porter. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1952 and pursued her passion for art by earning her degree from Massachusetts College of Art in 1957. Ann's dedication extended beyond academics as she was an active member of the Rainbow Girls in Brockton and a singer with the Handel and Haydn Society in Boston for 15 years.
Ann started her career at Nuremberg Studios and subsequently as a product manager at the advertising agency Salinger and Enneguess, Inc. in Boston. It was during this time that she found love in Lawrence A. Carey, whom she married at East Wareham Methodist Church on July 24, 1965. The couple settled in the Lakeview neighborhood of Waltham where they began their family together.
In her leisure time, Ann found joy in simple pleasures like sitting on the deck feeding birds, engaging with neighbors, and solving crossword puzzles. Her musical talents shone through as she showcased her skills as a talented pianist and devoted church organist for many years. Ann will be remembered for her kind heart, artistic talents, and unwavering love for her family.
Ann is survived by her son David L. Carey, of Waltham.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ann's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Route 20), Waltham on Sunday, March 17th, from 2 to 5 p.m. and again on Monday morning when her Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
