Waltham – Mrs. Ann M. (Annunziata) LaForte, of Waltham, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 98.
Ann was born in Belmont on June 30, 1915, a daughter of the late Louis and Angelina (Restuccia) Annunziata. Raised and educated in Waltham she was a graduate of Waltham High School. On November 12, 1940 she married Roy H. LaForte.
Ann worked for many years for the Raytheon Corporation and later at Western Electric in Watertown, retiring in 1982. She was a communicant of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church and had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 in Waltham. She was an avid Red Sox fan.
Ann's husband, Roy, died July 5, 1974. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Thomas R. 'Tucker' Taranto, Sr., and her siblings, Charles, Anthony and Louis Annunziata, Frances Annunziata, Rose Mannino and Joan LaForte.
She leaves her daughters, Dorothy A. Taranto of Lexington, formerly of Waltham, and Beverly R. Waite and her husband, John, of Waltham; her brother, Albert Annunziata of Waltham; her grandchildren, Thomas Taranto, Jr., Kathleen Stewart, Cheryl Pelletier, Mark Taranto, Michelle Poulin, Christine Romancewicz and Kimberly Waite; her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Allison, Justin, Kaitlin, Cameron, Kylie, Sydney, Tyler, Nicole and Connor and many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ann's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, January 10th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown
