Waltham – Mrs. Ann L. (Rivers) Murphy, of Waltham, died at home on August 28, 2013. She was 71.
Ann was born in Waltham on August 14, 1942, a daughter of the late Anna M. (Lenza) Rivers. She was a 1961 graduate of Waltham High School and had worked as a secretary.
She loved to travel, especially to the national parks. She was always smiling and loved butterflies and rainbows, walking the beach with her husband, tending to her garden and most especially time spent with her family whom she adored.
She was the beloved wife of Robert F. Murphy, Jr.; mother of Robert J. Murphy and his wife, Tara, of Westwood and Michael S. Murphy and his wife, Karen, of Sudbury; grandmother of Sean, Cashman, Colleen, Connor and Kate; sister of Helen Williams of Waltham and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Mary Maher and sister-in-law of the late Charles Williams and Robert Maher.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ann's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, August 30th from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Feake Cemetery.
