Mrs. Ann B. (Smith) Rousseau, of West Newton, died Friday, February 22, 2013 at home.
She was 93.
Ann was born on June 22, 1919 in Dunmore, Pennsylvania a daughter of Adam and Ursula (Beraserevicky) Smith and later moved to Newton in 1946. An avid roller skater she loved being able tell family and friends that she performed at The Empire Rink in Brooklyn, New York in the late 1930's.
She was a coordinator at Welcome Neighbor Company on California Street in Newton for over 25 years. Her life was centered around her family in particular her grandchildren.
Ann is predeceased by her husband, Joseph O. Rousseau who died in 1978 and her siblings, Joseph and Vincent Smith, Mary Petrilla and Frances Knauff.
She leaves her children, Thomas J. Rousseau and his life partner, Helen Evans, of Clermont, Florida, JoAnn B. Rousseau of West Newton and Ronald R. Rousseau and his wife, Jill, of Waltham; her grandchildren, Debra Rousseau Albanna, Thomas J. Rousseau, Jr., Christopher Rousseau, Wendy Rousseau, Jennifer Rousseau and Steven Rousseau; her great-grandchildren Matthew, Morgan, Andrew, Nicole, Joel, Taylor, Michael, John, Gina and Emma; her brothers, Thomas Smith and Edward Smith, both of New York and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ann's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, February 27th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA.
