Waltham – Mrs. Ann J. "Nancy" (O'Gara) Sliney, of Waltham, died at home on Friday, May 1, 2020. She was 84.
Nancy was born in Waltham on October 22, 1935 to Irish immigrants Peter J. and Anna J. (Sheppard) O'Gara. She was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School and was a lifelong member of the parish.
Until her marriage to Belmont native Thomas F. Sliney she worked for a time as a customer service rep for the Boston Edison Company.
After that Nancy became a fulltime homemaker for her husband and five children; a job that she loved and was exceedingly good at. They will long remember her skill and dedication in the care she took of them, the education in life that she provided and making sure that every meal was prepared with a large dose of love. Life, love, faith, family and friendship were the hallmarks of her life.
In addition to her husband of fifty-eight years, Tom, she leaves her children, Colleen Powell (Pierre) of Littleton, Colorado, Thomas Sliney (Kathleen) of Alexandria, New Hampshire, Suzanne Boyd of Brookline, Ann Castriotta (Matthew) of Boxborough, and Meghan Lipcon (James) of Stow; her grandchildren, Erin Galiardo (Nick), Joseph and Patricia Sliney, Michael and Ryan Thurber, Jake, Gabrielle, and Olivia Boyd, and Adam, Luke, and Evan Castriotta; her sister, Rosemary McGonigle of Cotuit and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Nancy was also a sister of the late Mary Thayer, Frances Francis, and Veronica Considine.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, October 23rd, in Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham.
