Anna L. (Tobin) Jaillet

December 17, 1932 — December 4, 2016

Waltham – Mrs. Anna L. (Tobin) Jaillet, of Waltham, died Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Excel Nursing Center in Lexington. She was 83.

Anna was born in Everett on December 17, 1932, a daughter of the late John "Jack" and Anastasia (Fitzgerald) Tobin, both natives of Western Bay, Newfoundland. Anna graduated from Bishop Chevrus High School in Malden and volunteered at the Immaculate Conception Rectory in Everett.

She was primarily a homemaker however worked as a secretary for the Everett Vocational High School who dedicated their yearbook to her in 1957.

A Waltham resident since her marriage, she recognized a lack of organized sports for girls in the city and founded The Jaillet Girls Softball League in the mid '60's which ran successfully for several years. Anna was also active as a CCD catechist at Saint Mary's Church and at Saint Charles Church when her children and grandchildren attended catechism.

Her husband of fifty years, Norman J. Jaillet, Sr. died in January, 2008.

She leaves her children, Norman J. Jaillet, Jr. and his partner, Catherine L. Celenza, of Lynnfield, her devoted daughter, Denise Jaillet and her partner, Bennet O'Neil, Jr., of Waltham and Steven Jaillet and his wife, Dawn, of Newton; her grandchildren, Brian and Brooke Jaillet of Groton, and Steven, Carissa and Brittany Jaillet of Newton; her 95 year old sister, Genevieve Yeo, of Everett and many nieces and nephews.

She was also a sister of the late Mary Kavanaugh, Ellen "Nellie" Ryan and Theresa "Teri" Derba.

Family and friends will honor and remember Anna's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, December 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
