Brighton - Mrs. Anna D. (DiLeo) Ragnelli, of Brighton, died Thursday, April 17, 2014 in Meadow Green Nursing Home, Waltham. She was 92.
Anna was born on January 22, 1922 in Fallo, Provincia de Chieti, Italy a daughter of the late Antonio and Carmela (Catinella) DiLeo. She immigrated to the United States in March of 1948 settling in the South End neighborhood of Boston for over six years. She later made her home in Brighton in 1952.
Anna worked part-time as a seamstress and full-time as a mother. She made her house a home and loved to knit, crochet, cook, sew, embroider, sing and listen to music. Her kitchen was an open invitation to homemade Italian cooking where reservations were not required and family and friends were always welcomed.
Her husband of almost 50 years, Emilio Natalino Ragnelli died December 11, 1995. She was also predeceased by siblings, Domenic and Mario DiLeo.
She leaves her children, Ester R. Duggan and her husband, James of Wellesley, Alfred M. Ragnelli and his wife, Kim, of Lexington and Lucy C. Ragnelli of Alameda, California; her grandchildren, Sarah Duggan, Christopher and Alicia Ragnelli; her brothers, Amelio DiLeo and his wife, Terry, of Winchester, Renato 'Ron' DiLeo and his wife, Martha of Reading; her sister-in-law, Sheila DiLeo of Tewksbury and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Anna's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, April 23rd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to The Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola, 28 Commonwealth Avenue, Chestnut Hill, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Roslindale.
