Waltham - Ms. Anne M. Edwards, formerly of Braintree, died Monday, November 18, 2019 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 92.
Anne was born at home in Dorchester on November 2, 1927 a daughter of the late John F. and Georgia Mae (Braham) Kinsella. Raised in Boston and Braintree she was a graduate of Girls Trade High School in West Newton and later earned her Bachelor's degree from Boston University. She enjoyed walks around Castle Island and trips to Sullivan's were treasured memories.
Her teaching career began at the Willard School in Quincy and later in Central Islip on Long Island, New York. Her eagerness to travel afforded her an opportunity to teach as a civilian in the United States Air Force. She taught in Greenland; Évreux, France; Clark Air Force Base, Philippines; Warrington, England and Wiesbaden, Germany. After a return home to the States she worked as an administrative assistant for Stone & Webster Co. before returning to teaching the fourth grade at St. Theresa of Avila School in West Roxbury for over 16 years. She lived over 40 years in the south shore towns of Milton, Braintree, Hanover before finally transitioning to The Leland Home in Waltham three months ago.
Anne was a foodie....and loved her apple cider donuts and butter crunch ice-cream. An avid reader she kept her mind sharp and current with interests in the arts, music and politics. Forever an advocate for keeping the earth clean she was a true re-cycler and encouraged her family and friends to do the same. She was the subject of an article on recycling for the Patriot Ledger. She loved to help with charitable causes such as Brockton Veterans Hospital, the Corporators of the former Don Bosco High School, and children's charities. She always remembered special occasions of her loved ones and friends with gifts, a card and a hand-written note. Her nieces and nephews, their families and their friends became her own and she was a much loved aunt to so many.
