Weston - Anne Ellen (Roy) Woodside, died Tuesday, September 27, 2022 in her home in Weston with her family by her side. She was 101.
Anne was born in Horseheads, New York on August 29, 1921 the daughter of Milton and Annie (Voigt) Roy. She graduated from Horseheads High School in 1938 and majored in Early Childhood Education at Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She married Frederick A. Woodside on June 29, 1946 and they have made Weston their home for over 65 years.
Anne was a gifted seamstress making everything from wedding dresses to tailored suits. She worked alongside her husband at the family business, Woodside's Service Station in Waltham.
In her free time she enjoyed being with family and friends, traveling and spending time at her second home on Marco Island.
In addition to her husband of 62 years, Frederick A. Woodside (May 29, 2008) she was predeceased by her son, Frederick R. Woodside (September 2, 2022); her daughters-in-law, Patricia A. (Delorey) Woodside and Marie J. (White) Woodside; her son-in-law, Robert Freitag; siblings, Milton Insley Roy, Maria Roy Turner and William E. Roy.
She leaves her children, Maria W. Freitag Newington, Connecticut and Robert I. Woodside (fiancée Lisa Damigella) of Waltham; her daughter-in-law, Linda (Day) Woodside of Weston; her grandchildren, Robert Freitag (Lynsi), Kathleen Clarke (Michael), Nicholas Woodside (Celeste), Adam Woodside (Melanie), Amy Johnson (Aaron), Justin Woodside (Sarah); and 12 great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Neko, Owen, Tessa, Jack, Quinn, Milo, Rebekah, Jackson, Lily, Amelia and Emerson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Anne's life by gathering to visit at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 6th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
The family would like to thank all of her compassionate caregivers for their kindness and devoted attention.
