Bedford, NH – Mr. Anthony J. Creonte, of Bedford, New Hampshire, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Bedford Hills Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was 90.

Known by family and friends as Tony, he was born in Waltham on July 26, 1927, a son of the late Carmine and Christina (DeSisto) Creonte, who had emigrated from Italy to the United States in 1909. He attended Saint Joseph Elementary School and the Arthur A. Hansen Vocational Trade School. He graduated in 1944 with a diploma in carpentry and building construction.

In July, 1945 Tony joined the United States Navy and two months later married the love of his life, Waltham native Catherine E. Delfino. His military service brought him to the Pacific as part of a landing craft fleet where he served until his discharge.

After getting out of the service in 1946 Tony returned to Waltham where he and Catherine made their home before moving to New Hampshire in 1980. He started his own construction company where he built many homes and apartments in the Waltham area. He was also the co-owner and co-developer of the Eastham and Route 6 motels in Eastham.

In 1966 Tony was appointed Waltham's building inspector, a post he held until his retirement fourteen years later. After that he and Catherine moved to New Hampshire, first to Meredith and then to Bedford to be closer to family.

In addition to his beloved wife of seventy-two years, Catherine, he leaves his children, Judy Leslie and Diane Caban and her husband, David, all of Bedford, New Hampshire; his grandchildren, Kimberly Egger of Sonora, California, Karrie Cluff of Show Low, Arizona, Kelly Smith of Renton, Washington, Anthony Williams of Grandeville, Idaho, Michael Williams of Manchester, New Hampshire, Katherine Williams of Portland, Oregon, Michael Caban of Longmeadow, Christine Caban Donahue and David Caban, both of Bedford, New Hampshire; his brother, William Creonte of Waltham; thirteen great-grandchildren, eleven step great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was also a brother of the late Michael, Augustine and Domenic Creonte, Natalie Durkin and Santina Lombardi.

Family and friends will honor and remember Tony's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, February 14th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
