Waltham – Mr. Anthony N. "Tony" Farago, of Waltham, died Sunday, August 15, 2021 in Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge. He was 90.
Tony was born on Christmas day, 1930 in Watertown, a son of the late Felix and Jennie (Mazza) Farago. He was raised in Watertown and a graduate of Watertown High School. During the Korean War he served with the United States Navy.
On October 27, 1956 he married the love of his life, Newton native, Arline M. Maloney. The pair settled in Watertown for a time before moving to Waltham in 1962 where they would raise their family. They spent fifty-nine wonderful years together until her death on March 3, 2016.
Tony was a talented carpenter whose skill at his craft was the envy of many. He will long be remembered as a dependable and loyal friend, and above all, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
In addition to his beloved wife, Arline, awaiting his arrival in Heaven were his brothers and sister, the late Joseph, Frank, and Andrew Farago and Theresa DiPietro.
He leaves his children, Robert P. Farago (late Constance) of Westford, Bruce A. Farago of Holliston, John J. Farago (Linda Moschner) of Waltham, and Lynne T. McPhail (Daniel) of York, Maine; his grandchildren, Michael A. Farago (Brittany Palaski), John R. Farago, Rachel C. Farago, Anthony J. Farago, Jennie L. McPhail, Emily A. McPhail, and Sarah E. McPhail and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tony's life by gathering for calling hours in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham, on Friday morning, August 20th from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
