Anthony Lembo

June 7, 1927 — February 16, 2009

West Newton – Mr. Anthony Lembo, of West Newton, died Monday, February 16, 2009 at his home. He was 81.

Anthony was born on June 7, 1927 in Ucria, Sicily, a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Salpietro) Lembo and had served with the Italian Army before moving to the United States. He moved to West Newton in 1961.

Until his retirement in 1998 Anthony worked for fifty years for Central Tailoring Company in Weston. He enjoyed walking, gardening at home, and in retirement, traveling with his wife and family.

He leaves his wife of forty-eight years, Vincenza (Gurgone) Lembo; his children, Anna M. Ludwig and her husband, Glenn, of Wayland and Anthony J. Lembo and his wife, Tracey, of Weston; his grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Ludwig and Cara and Joseph Lembo; his brother and sister, Sebastian Lembo of Messina, Sicily and Nancy Cuttone of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.

Anthony was also a brother of the late Angie Appruzese, Philip Lembo and Rosa Mollica.

Family and friends will honor and remember Anthony's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Route 20), Waltham on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery.
