Mr. Anthony J. Russo, of Waltham, died Tuesday, March 14, 2023 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital after a period of failing health. He was 89.
Anthony Joseph Russo was born November 12, 1933 in Waltham a son of Italian immigrants Antonio and Maria (Fiora) Russo. A lifelong Waltham resident he was a graduate of Waltham High School and later served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was married in Saint Mary's Church in 1958 to Marilyn A. Anderson.
Tony worked over thirty-nine years as an electronic technician for Raytheon Corporation. He was a longtime member of Joseph Hill Post 156 American Legion and kept active throughout his eighties walking daily.
Beloved husband of 46 years to the late Marilyn A. (Anderson) Russo († June 14, 2004) he leaves his children, Anthony J. Russo of Waltham, Joan M. Langley and her husband, Gary, and Carol A. Goguen and her husband, Terrance, both of Manchester, New Hampshire; his grandchildren, Jennifer and Michelle Langley and Stephanie Zappulla and her husand, Joseph and Michael Goguen; his great-grandchildren, Eli Crowley and Jack Zappulla; his sisters, Mary Russo of Waltham, Grace Delgizzi and her husband, Joseph of Hudson and the late Camella Russo, Josephine Russo and Rose Russo; also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tony's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, Waltham, on Sunday, March 19th from 2 to 4 p.m. and again on Monday morning where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
