Waltham – Mr. Anthony R. "Tony" Stefanelli, of Waltham, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in Meadow Green Nursing Home, Waltham. He was 82.
Tony was born in Somerville on November 27, 1934, a son of the late Joseph and Lena (Alcione) Stefanelli. In between the Korean and Vietnam Wars he served as a Morse code operator with the United States Army Signal Corps.
Music was his passion and something that he was a natural at since his teen years. Tony had 'an ear' for music and was able to play an accordion and piano with unrivaled ability. He turned his passion into a career and spent his life building and tuning pianos and teaching others to play. He was also an entertainer for years.
The best part of his life began on July 14, 1968 when he married his sweetheart, Charlestown native Patricia A. Yeramian, in Saint Mary's Church, Charlestown. The couple made Medford their home for thirty-three years before moving to Waltham sixteen years ago.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, he leaves his brother, Richard Stefanelli of Medford; his sister-in-law, Paula Desmond of Billerica and many nieces and nephews.
Tony was the brother-in-law of the late Lillian Campagna and Paul Yeramian.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tony's life by gathering to visit at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 17th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
