Antoinette (Apone) Russas, of Watertown died on Saturday,August 17, 2024 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 97.
Born on November 17, 1926, in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston, she was the daughter of Tommaso and Maria (Miglino) Apone. Antoinette grew up in Hyde Park, where she received her education and graduated from Hyde Park High School. On September 4, 1949, she married George V. Russas, and together, they settled in Watertown where they raised their family.
Antoinette worked in assembly at Meditech in Watertown for many years until her retirement. A devout member of St. Luke’s Church, she found joy in her faith and was actively involved in her parish community. In her leisure time, she enjoyed knitting, playing cards, and, in her younger years, dancing.
Antoinette leaves her children, George R. Russas (Joanne) of East Dennis and Dennis J. Russas (Patricia) of Watertown; her grandchildren, Kerry Harrington (Sean), Kristen Lombard, Justin Russas, A.J. Geswell (lateNancy), and Patricia LaFauci (John); her Great-grandchildren, Madi, CJ, Katherine, Robbie, John, Marc, and Isabella. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late John, William and Michael Apone and the late Philomena Renzi.
Family and friends will honor and remember Antoinette’s life by gathering for an evening wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, August 21st from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery Watertown.
