Antonio "Tony" Fragale lived each and every day for his family. The intense love he had for his wife, children, siblings and extended family filled his life with true happiness. Born on May 25, 1965 in Calabria Italy, a son of the late Edoardo and Angelina (Godino) Fragale. He was the 8th youngest of eleven children. He immigrated with his family to the United States in 1971 and was raised in a house filled with love in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Sadly, Tony passed unexpectedly after experiencing a massive heart attack on January 13, 2019 at the young age of 53.
On June 17, 1990 he married the love of his life, Mercedes S. Chirinos at Sacred Heart Church, Waltham and they moved to Sudbury in 2000. He was so proud of the home he built alongside his father and brothers. Tony was overcome with joy when his home was filled with family and friends. Tony was the ultimate provider and gave selflessly of himself. He was always willing to offer a helping hand to friends or strangers alike and was known by everyone to have the biggest heart. No matter where, being in the company of his family made him most happy. Tony embodied the Italian culture and cherished trips back to Italy where his roots began. A North End celebrity, he was known by all in every restaurant and pastry shop. Tony was simply unforgettable.
A natural born entrepreneur, Tony worked hard to hone his craft since the age of 17 in landscaping, construction and with a special passion for masonry. He proudly owned and operated Tony Fragale Masonry Construction and Landscape Company. He was especially talented with the trowel and had true expertise with heavy equipment or as Tony said "Machinery". Tony was happiest working with his hands, a visionary in the garden and always added a little something extra to his projects. With an unwavering work ethic, the job was not completed until it was perfect. Having faced endless obstacles, he always persevered and proved the perfection of his work. Tired, careless or lazy weren't acceptable work habits for him or anyone who worked for him.
In addition to his wife of 28 years, Mercedes, he leaves their children, Marisa M. Fragale (Bryan Garcia), Bianca A. Fragale (John Caruso) and Antonio E. Fragale (Kaley Brudner), all of Sudbury; his siblings, Giovanna Rametta (Antonio) of Waltham, Paolo 'Paul' Fragale (Angelina), Michelangelo 'Mike' Fragale (late Robert Ferrarini), Maria Caso (Richard) all of Weston, Gianfranco 'Frank' Fragale of Waltham, Anna Fragale of Warwick, Rhode Island, Tullia Visco (Bruno) of Newton, Fabio Fragale (Maureen) of Ashland; his brother-in-law, Vincent "Jimmy" Arcuri of Dedham and many nieces and nephews. Tony was also the brother of the late Marisa Fragale and Rosa Arcuri.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tony's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, January 18th from 3 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Waltham. Riposa in pace.
