Waltham - Mrs. Apolina L. (Nocera) Calisi, of Waltham, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was 92.
Apolina was born in Curwensville, Pennsylvania, on September 28, 1920 a daughter of John and Nazzarenne (Petrillo) Nocera and moved to Massachusetts shortly after being married.
She was the wife of the late Lazzaro 'Lawrence' Calisi and the sister of the late Fred Nocera, Alex Nocera, Helen Rodriguez, Mary Cardone, and Jean Ierulli.
Mrs. Calisi is survived by her children, Gerald L. Calisi and his wife, Maureen, of Stoneham, Ann Marie Previte and her husband, Domenic, of Waltham, Lawrence A. 'Butch' Calisi and his wife, Kathleen of Wakefield, Anthony M. Calisi and his wife, Linda, of Westford, Michael A. Calisi and his fiance, Catherine Calder, of Methuen, and John Calisi and his wife, Susie, of Concord; her grandchildren, Domenic Previte III, Ann Marie Rose Previte, Gerald Calisi Jr., Lawrence Calisi Jr., Danny Calisi, Jaime Calisi, Paige Calisi, Jason Calisi, Johnathan Calisi, Laura Calisi, Jenna Calisi, Gianni Calisi, Davio Calisi and Isabella Calisi; her seven great grandchildren, Domenic A. Previte IV, Michael Previte, Robert and Olivia Ann Bibbo, Mia Previte, Samantha Calisi and Sophia Calisi; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Apolina's life by gathering for her calling hours on Sunday, June 9th, from 4 to 7 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
