Waltham – Retired Waltham Fire Department Deputy Chief Armand J. LeBlanc, of Waltham, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 83. Born in Waltham, a son of the late Ernest J. and Alice (Benoit) LeBlanc, he had been a lifelong resident. During World War II he served with the United States Navy. Deputy Chief LeBlanc was appointed to the Waltham Fire Department on March 16, 1947 and was promoted to Lieutenant in June, 1953 and to Captain in October, 1957. In April of 1965 he was appointed Deputy Fire Chief, a position he held until his retirement in August of 1985 after thirty-eight years of service to the department. After his retirement he enjoyed golfing, landscaping his yard and had become an avid walker. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Marjorie A. (Langill) LeBlanc; his children, Peter E. LeBlanc and his wife, Sheila, of Waltham, Jane R. Sheils and her husband, James, of Burlington, Nancy J. LeBlanc of Bradford, Dana P. LeBlanc of Waltham, Sara A. Horne and her husband, Joe, of New Hampshire, Margot J. Pritchard and her husband Thomas and Kristen N. Fitzgerald and her husband, Douglas, all of Milton; his brother, Paul LeBlanc of Waltham; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was also a brother of the late Robert LeBlanc. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
