Armenag David

Waltham - Mr. Armenag Hovhannes David, of Waltham, died at home on Friday, October 18, 2013 with his family gathered by his side. He was 86.

He was born at home on October 5, 1927 in South Boston a son of Armenian immigrants, the late Altoon (Baitarian) and Hovhannes David (DerTavidian). He married Belmont native Janet P. (Serino) David on August 29, 1965 in First Baptist Church of Scituate and they have been residents of Waltham since 1967.

Armenag worked for Union Local #17 as a sheet metal worker for many years, retiring in 1991.

He was involved in many community, civic and church groups: Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Gate of the Temple Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M. in Stoughton, Aleppo Shriners Temple – Oriental Band, Armenian Past Masters & Officers Association, Past District Deputy Grans Masters Association of Massachusetts, Mystic-Woburn, Royal Arch Chapter, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Boston, Gethsemane DeMolay Commandery, No. 7, Knights Templar, Sheet Metal Workers International Association, St. James Armenian Apostolic Church in Watertown, and Recipient of the Joseph Warren Medal of Honor from the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts.

Armenag was a generous man who was able to fix everything, lend a hand to anyone, and could tell a joke for any situation. His family offers words of thanks to everyone who loved, prayed for and supported Dad in his journey these last few months, especially, Rob, Lisa, Ryan and Kyle Irvine.

Armenag is predeceased by his parents, Altoon and Hovhannes DerTavidian; his brother-in-law, Hrach Terlemezian; his mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Marion Serino; his sister-in-law, Kathleen Serino.

In addition to his wife of 48 years, Janet Patricia (Serino) David; his children, John A. David and Carol of Woburn, Karen David-Monson and Peter of Andover, Joshua M. David and Lisa, of Walpole and Paul A. David and Alicia of Bow, New Hampshire; his grandchildren, Christopher, Nina, Samantha, Derek, Sophia, Isabella, Nikolos, Hunter, Owen and Alanah; his great-grandson Drayden Fitzgerald; he was the honorary 'papa' to Mary, Frankie and Katie DeBlasio; his sister, Varna Terlemezian of Belmont; his nieces and nephews, John and Donna Terlemezian, Paul and Sherry Terlemezian, Joan and Alson Drevins, Austine Robinson, Beth and David Cimyotte, Jennifer and Howie Waszmer, John and Lisa Flynn, Naomi and Ben McRedmond, Jessica and Chris Pike, Alyssa Serino, Gillian and Jeff Bossio, Rebeccah and Ricky Farry; also survived by 23 great-nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Armenag's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, October 23rd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday in St. James Armenian Church, 465 Mt. Auburn Street, Watertown where his Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 60 Walnut Street, Wellesley, MA 02481 in honor of his very courageous niece, Abby Pike.
