Waltham – Mr. Arthur L. St. Germain, of Waltham, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Wayside Hospice in Wayland. He was 85. Born and raised in Waltham, a son of the late Arthur L. and Sylvania (Rheume) St. Germain, Arthur had lived in Acton for twenty years before returning to Waltham 38 years ago. He was a 1948 graduate of the New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences and in 1970 Arthur opened the St. Germain & Son Funeral Home on Moody Street in Waltham. He retired in 2005. During World War II he served with the United States Army and had been a member of the Kiwanis Club and the French-American Victory Club, both in Waltham. Arthur had also been a longtime and active parishioner at Saint Joseph's Church in Waltham until its recent closing. The husband of the late Phyllis (Manning) St. Germain, he leaves his children, Arthur L. St. Germain, Jr., of Maynard, Jude St. Germain and his wife, Lucille, of Waltham and Dona Kriete and her husband, Lawrence, of Cape Coral, Florida; his grandsons, Charles and Arthur J. Kriete; his granddaughter, Charlotte Kriete; his sister, Leona M. Landon of Westwood; three brothers, James N. St. Germain of Waltham, Albert R. St. Germain of Grandview, Missouri and Raymond J. St. Germain of Bedford; his longtime companion, Marie Sonier of Waltham and many nieces and nephews. Arthur was also a brother of the late Wilfred B., Edgar and Paul J. St. Germain. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Friday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Wayside Hospice, 266 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA 01778.
