Waltham – Mr. Arthur J. Goguen, of Waltham, died Thursday, November 18, 2010 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 77.
Arthur was born in Cocagne, New Brunswick, Canada on November 6, 1933, a son of the late Alfonse and Caroline (Landry) Goguen and had lived in Waltham since 1956. Until his retirement in 1991 he worked as an assembler for twenty-eight years at the General Motors plant in Framingham.
He was a longtime member of the French-American Victory Club and an usher at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church in Waltham. He was also an usher at Saint Joseph's Church in Waltham where his family worshiped for many years prior to its closing. In his spare time he enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox and also loved working in his garden. Like all good gardeners Arthur was especially happy when his tomato plants came up.
Arthur leaves his wife, Norma (Bastarache) Goguen; his children, Giselle M. Legault and her husband, Richard; Raymond Goguen and Pauline Mazmanian; his grandchildren, Amanda and Corey Goguen; his brothers, Alcide Goguen, Lourie Cormier, and Norman Cormier; his sisters, Yvonne Goguen, Eva Richard, Rita Jacques, and Jean Brideau; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Arthur’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Route 20), Waltham on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
