Arthur William "Bill" Suplit

Waltham – Mr. Arthur William "Bill" Suplit, of Waltham, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 after experiencing complications from a stroke he suffered in 2001.
Bill was born on July 9, 1935 in Waltham and spent his entire life working and serving the city of Waltham. He was a lifelong learner, graduating in 1953 from Waltham High, 1958 from Northeastern University with a BS degree and 1961from the University of Massachusetts at Boston with a M. Ed degree.
Bill's love for learning went hand in hand with his passion for education. He taught at multiple public elementary schools and later became the principal at the Hardy, Lawrence and Plympton schools in Waltham. When Bill retired from teaching he served as a cook at The Leland Home in Waltham.
He had many interests that included reading, gardening, walking, food shopping, cooking, investing, traveling, playing cards with his lifelong buddies Dana Robinson, Ozzie Wambolt and Dave Parsons and studying the history of Waltham and Boston.
During summers Bill enjoyed spending time with his family at Pilgrim Pines Camp in Swanzey, New Hampshire where he invested countless volunteer hours. Bill was a member of the Covenant Congregational Church in Waltham where he taught Sunday school, served on many committees and was the sexton. He was also a member of the Piety Corner Club of Waltham.
Bill leaves his faithful and loving wife of fifty-three years, Pauline Jordan Suplit; his son, William L. Suplit and his wife, Bunny, of Stow, Ohio; his daughter, Barbara M. Suplit of Chicago, Illinois; his sister, Susan Landers of Pocasset and his grandchildren, William C. Suplit of Seattle, Washington and Wesley C. Suplit of New York City.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rene Arthur & Eva Marie (Mize) Suplit.
Bill will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Covenant Church, 7 Clematis Road, Lexington, on Saturday, April 16th at 2:00 pm. A reception and visitation with the family will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Dana Robinson Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Watertown Savings Bank, 60 Main Street, Watertown, MA 02472. This money will be used to educate young adults in Waltham. Or the Kisoboka Uganda Inc., 7 Clematis Road, Lexington, MA 02421. This money will be used to educate children in Uganda.
