Waltham, MA - Ashlee L. O’Neill, formerly of West Hartford and Manchester, Connecticut died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. She was 37.
Ashlee was born October 6, 1986, in Hartford, Connecticut a daughter of Kevin T. and Sabine (Matern) O’Neill. Raised in Manchester and later in West Hartford she was a graduate of Conard High School where she was on the cheerleading team and diving team. She then attended University of Massachusetts – Amherst.
Ashlee loved the beach, especially Cape Cod, and she was a huge Giants football fan. You’d often find her cheering on every game either out or at home wearing her favorite beloved Giants jersey. She LOVED candy, especially sour types, and you could find candy hidden in every nook and cranny of her house, car, purse etc. She was also a big puzzle lover, video gamer and a huge fan of the Howard Stern show. She adored her four-legged dogs, but especially her ‘baby’ Sheltie, ‘Genie’. With her passion and talents for cheerleading Ashlee also co-owned and operated a cheerleading gym in West Hartford.
After leaving UMass she was offered her first position answering phones and making appointments at Visual Perceptions and this launched her in a career in the eye care business. Her professional life eventually offered her, in 2020, an opportunity to move to Boston with My Eye Dr. She then worked at Harvard Square Eyecare and most recently for Warby Parker. She loved her work and was a very respected colleague. She leaves behind many professional colleagues who will feel the loss of her talents in the industry.
In addition to her parents, Kevin and Sabine O’Neill of Newark, Delaware, she leaves behind her sister, Page O’Neill and her husband, Blake Scholey of West Creek, New Jersey; her niece and nephew, Brooke Anderson and Noah Scholey; her 100-year-old grandfather, Frank Landry of Mashpee; and an army of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She also leaves behind a very tight knit group of BFFs from West Hartford who’ve supported and championed her at every moment of her life.
A Life Celebration to be held most likely in the West Hartford, CT area with details to follow.
Expressions of sympathy in her name may be made to the National Sheltie Rescue Association at https://nationalsheltierescueassociation.org/
