Waltham – Mrs. Audrey Pauline (Dickson) Baril, of Waltham, died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 83.
Pauline was born in Cambridge on December 11, 1930, a daughter of the late L. Paul and Mabel L. (Waugh) Dickson. After graduating from Waltham High School she worked as a medical secretary at Lahey Clinic in Burlington during the 1950's. After that she began a lifelong career as a sales representative for Avon Products. It was at Avon that she met lifelong friends and was able to travel the country.
She was a lifelong resident of Waltham and had been a Deaconess at the First Congregational Church, now Trinity Church, in Waltham. Pauline was a member of the PFC John M. Sullivan USMC Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10334 Auxiliary, the Disabled American Veterans Division 14 Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society.
When her two sons were growing up she enjoyed volunteering at their schools and also with the Boy Scouts. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother. She loved all things Disney and is affectionately remembered by her kids as the best mom in the neighborhood always welcoming a houseful of friends into her home.
She was the wife of the late John L. Baril who died on September 9, 1999 and is survived by her sons, Paul D. Baril and Alan C. Baril, both of Waltham.
Family and friends will honor and remember Pauline's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, May 6th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning when her funeral service will be held. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
