Weston – Mrs. B. Jane (O'Hara) MacIver, of Weston, formerly of Cambridge, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008. She was 85. Born and raised in Cambridge, Jane graduated from Cambridge High and Latin School in 1941. She then attended Bentley College, while working in finance at Studley Schubert. Married in 1946, she was widowed in 1951. While raising her children, she attended night classes and graduated with honors from Bentley College in 1955. She later worked as an accountant for the American Orchid Society and Harvard University, before joining the MGH Corp. as its corporate bookkeeper. In her retirement she enjoyed her grandchildren and occasional world travel. For many decades she was an avid international folk dancer, and a founding member of the MIT Folk Dance Club. Following a stroke in 1996, she became hemiplegic but resiliently managed to maintain her own apartment at Norumbega Point Assisted Living in Weston and tend to her companionable cockatiels, Bonnie and Clyde. Always friendly, accommodating, and hospitable, she was well-loved and appreciated by her many friends and family. Uncomplaining in the face of adversity, she invariably rose to the occasion with creativity, resourcefulness, and good cheer, a true "profile in courage". Jane was the beloved wife of the late Donald MacIver, Jr., loving mother of Janet M. Baker and her husband James, of Maitland, Florida and West Newton, and Donald MacIver, III and his wife, Meg Low, of Littleton. Jane was the beloved grandmother of Bradley Baker and his wife, Tyler, of Pennsauken, New Jersey and of Heather Baker and her partner, Karsten Dupont-Nielsen of Copenhagen, Denmark. She was also the beloved sister of the late Thomas O'Hara, of Cambridge, and the late William O'Hara (lost at sea, WWII). She is survived by her sister Ruth Scarbrough of Indianapolis, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Randolph at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13th. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held on Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jane's memory to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, P.O.
