Barbara Barrow, of Waltham, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in The Leland Home. She was 99.
Barbara was born December 25, 1912 at home on Ellison Park in Waltham a daughter of the late George William Barrow and Cleo Beatrice (Churchill) Barrow. A lifelong Waltham resident she was a 1931 graduate of Waltham High School and a 1933 graduate of Katherine Gibbs School in Boston.
She worked as a legal secretary for the Waltham law firm of Harnish, Mansfield and MacDonald, retiring at the age of 77 in 1991. Previously, she was secretary to the technical manager of the former Waltham Watch Factory and personal assistant to the President of Cedric Chase Laboratory in Waltham.
Upon her retirement she traveled extensively throughout the world and spent many hours volunteering at the Middlesex County Hospital in Waltham.
She was active in local memberships including Waltham Hospital Associates, The Waltham Crewelers Group, North Waltham Senior Citizens, Kappi Phi Sorority, the Annisquam Yacht Club, Cape Ann Garden Club and life member of Waltham Historical Society and the Christ Church Episcopal in Waltham.
She is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Jeannette and Wynton Reid Dangelmayer.
Barbara leaves a niece, Virginia C. Beckwith and her husband, Richard, of Wellesley; her nephews, Ted Dangelmayer and his wife, Lindy, of Annisquam and Robert Dangelmayer of Houston, Texas and his former wife, Vicki, of Annisquam; seven grand nieces and nephews; a great niece and nephew.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Barbara's life on Saturday, January 7, 2012 in Mount Feake Cemetery, 203 Prospect Street, Waltham where her graveside service will be held at 11:30AM.
