Barbara M. Beran

Waltham – Mrs. Barbara M. (Shedd) Beran, of Waltham, died Sunday, April 26, 2015 in Center Conway, New Hampshire. She was 91.

Barbara was born in Waltham on May 25, 1923, a daughter of the late Harold and Winona (Butler) Shedd, and had been a lifelong resident.

Until her retirement she worked for more than thirty years in the cafeteria at Brandeis University in Waltham. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Waltham where she belonged to the Ladies Circle.

The wife of the late Frank Beran, she leaves her children, Robert F. Beran and his wife, Kathleen, Janet S. Connors, all of Waltham and Debra E. Sneider and her husband, Harry, Jr., of Saxonville; her grandchildren, Stacey Noel, Patricia Beck, Laura O'Toole, Amanda Beran, Mark Pineau and Melissa Roach, her brother, Robert Shedd and his wife, Evelyn, of Walpole; her sister, Helen Barber and her husband, Richard, of Marlborough; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was also the mother-in-law of the late Robert A. Connors and a sister of the late Ruth Shedd, Edith Corner and Marion Kennedy.

The Beran family extends special gratitude to Jane Digregorio and her family who provided loving and devoted care to Barbara during her final years.

Family and friends will honor and remember Barbara's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, April 30th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday morning when her funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
