Mrs. Barbara J. (Parsons) Cannistraro, of Waltham, died Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was 92.
Barbara was born June 12, 1931 in Waltham a daughter of the late Howard and Esther (Murphy) Parsons. A lifelong Waltham resident she married Louis P. Cannistraro in July of 1951. After 67 years of marriage Louis died October 26, 2019.
Barbara stayed at home to raise her four children. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Post #2152 in Waltham and an active Den Mother in the Girl Scouts at Saint Charles Borromeo Parish. She was also a faithful parishioner of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Parish.
In addition to her husband, Louis she is predeceased by her sons, Peter M. and Louis H. Cannistraro; her siblings, Mary Muise, Roy Parsons, Howard Parsons, Florence Nesbet and Elizabeth Harron.
She leaves her daughters, Lynn M. Osganian (Paul) of Waltham and Dawn Cannistraro of Framingham; her grandchildren, Louis M. Cannistraro of Sudbury, Andrea Kraemer of Sudbury, Amanda Moran of Wayland, Erica Gonzalez of Natick, Lisa M. Canton of Harvard, Kristin Garrity of Hudson and John Cannistraro of Hudson; also survived by 20 great-grandchildren; her siblings, John ‘Jack’ Parsons of Hudson and Patricia Santello of Falmouth; many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Barbara’s life by gathering for calling hours on Thursday, December 28th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
