Waltham – Mrs. Barbara E. (Kybert) Cerqua, of Waltham, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010 in the Kindred Hospital Waltham.
Barbara was born in Newton, a daughter of the late Arthur and Hilda (Gillis) Kybert, and was a lifelong resident of Waltham. She was a graduate of Waltham High School and Mount Ida College. Barbara was a Medical Transcriber at Waltham Hospital for many years before her retirement in 1986. Remaining active she was a member of the Saint Jude’s Sodality and both the Waltham and Watertown Senior Centers, especially enjoying taking part in their art programs. In her spare time she enjoyed painting and playing piano.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Henry J. Cerqua, who died on May 21, 1989.
She leaves her children, Gayle E. Sullivan and her husband, Donald, of Waltham, Bryan H. Cerqua of Milford, David F. Cerqua and his wife, Patricia, of Maynard and Paul A. Cerqua of Nashua, New Hampshire; her grandchildren Jeffrey and Amy Sullivan and Anthony, Francesca and Mathew Cerqua; her sister-in-law Liana Fantasia of Watertown and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Barbara’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Sunday October 24, from 2:00 -5:00 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
