Barbara A. Howard

Waltham – Mrs. Barbara A. (Corrow) Howard, of Waltham, died on April 7th, 2013 in EPOCH Senior Healthcare in Brewster. She was 87.

Barbara was born in Lexington on July 10, 1925, a daughter of the late Napoleon and Ann Cecelia (Sweet) Corrow. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1943 and remained close with many classmates her entire life, just recently helping to organize a reunion.

Barbara married Alvah B. Howard Jr., on September 21, 1946. For many years she worked as an accountant with Ralph D. Hill, CPA. She worked until she needed to provide full time care for her husband Alvah.

Family was most important to her and she cherished time spent with them. She was known to her grandchildren as "Nana B", "Nana Barbara", "Nana Petunia" and even "Barbarini". Her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all had very close relationships with her. They adored their time spent together and spoke frequently. Barbara could often be found at The Chateau sharing a meal with her family or one of her many friends.

Barbara loved the Bruins and Red Sox, bowling, playing cribbage, challenging puzzles, ceramics and never missed an episode of Dancing with the Stars. She had a quick wit and the best sense of humor. She kept everyone on their toes and was always the life of the party. Simply put, she was the sweetest person and truly one of a kind.

She was the beloved wife of the late Alvah B. Howard, Jr. who died in 2004. She is survived by her son Alvah B. Howard, III; her grandchildren, Stacey Howard, Rob and Melissa Howard, Carla and John Palmer and Michael Domina; her great-grandchildren Brian Grob, Madison and Logan Howard and Elizabeth and Joseph Palmer.

Family and friends will honor and remember Barbara's life by gathering to visit in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. (Rte 20) Waltham, on Saturday, April 20th, from 10-12 p.m. followed by her Memorial Service at 12 p.m.
