Waltham – Mrs. Barbara M. (Murphy) Isaacson, of Waltham, died Saturday, September 2, 2017 at her home. She was 95.
Barbara was born in Waltham on August 30, 1922, a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Conroy) Murphy and had been a lifelong resident. She graduated from Waltham High School in 1941.
Until her retirement she worked as an administrative assistant for twenty-five years at the Heller Graduate School at Brandeis University. Before that Barbara held the same position for Antico Realty Trust and before that at the Raytheon Company, all in Waltham.
She was a lifelong parishioner at Saint Mary's Church in Waltham and had been a member of the Friends of the Waltham Public Library and had volunteered for years at Waltham Hospital.
Barbara's husband of forty-six years, Leonard A. "Ike" Isaacson died in December, 1992.
She leaves her children, Leonard A. Isaacson, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, Lawrence D. Isaacson and his wife, JoAnn, all of Billerica and Karen M. Collins of Stoughton; her grandchildren, Lynne Robinson and her husband, Dana, Alexa Isaacson, Krista Isaacson, all of Billerica and Gregg Isaacson and his wife, Katrina, of Somerville; her great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Robinson and many nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Lisa Ann Meehan of Stoneham.
Barbara was also the mother-in-law of the late Philip R. Collins, Jr.; great-grandmother of the late Dean Michael Robinson and a sister of the late Clare Meehan and Kenneth, Arthur, Jr. and David Murphy.
Family and friends will honor and remember Barbara's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, September 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
