Waltham – Mrs. Barbara A. (Delorey) Keefe, of Waltham, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Pine Knoll Nursing Center in Lexington. She was 84.
Barbara was born in Waltham on December 30, 1925, a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Callahan) Delorey, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Waltham and had worked as a teacher’s assistant at the Banks School and later for New England Telephone Company. After that Barbara worked at the Guaranty Trust Bank on Main Street in Waltham.
She was a lifelong parishioner at Saint Mary’s Church in Waltham where she belonged to the Mother’s Club. Barbara was also a Brownie Troop leader and a Cub Scout leader for many years.
Her husband, Retired Waltham Police Captain Joseph P. Keefe, Sr., died June 22, 2010.
Barbara leaves her children, Judith A. Keefe of North Chelmsford and Joseph P. Keefe, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Waltham; her brother, Leonard Delorey of East Boston; her sisters, Rita Connearney of Waltham, Jean Savino of Margate, Florida and Patricia Connolly of Lafayette, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.
She was also a sister of the late Joseph, Richard, Gertrude, Cornelius and Mary Delorey, Edna Elms and Agnes O’Connor.
Family and friends will honor and remember Barbara’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, October 3rd, from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
