Waltham – Barbara A. Loving, of Waltham, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton. She was 79.
Barbara was born in Waltham on July 21, 1932, a daughter of the late George W. and Alice H. (Innes) Loving. She was a lifelong Waltham resident and a graduate of Waltham High School. She worked as a medical secretary at Stanton Medical Associates in Brighton and was still working at the time of her death. For Barbara, work at the medical office wasn't just work. Patients became friends and she was a stable, familiar and trusted voice and face in the office. Her work went beyond the normal hours and she would tend to patients beyond their expectations.
"Aunt B", as she was lovingly referred to by family and friends, is remembered as a woman with a great sense of humor and an extraordinarily generous person who always put others before herself. Barbara was always thinking of others and in quiet effort she always provided to so many so that they would not go without. She was also a talented crocheter and had a book always to be read.
She leaves her sister, Janice M. MacArthur of Hingham; her nephew, Scott W. MacArthur and his wife, Deborah; her niece, Sue Curran and her husband, John, of Boston; her great nephew and nieces, Greg R. MacArthur, Allison J. MacArthur and Shanti Curran; and a host of friends and work colleagues.
Family and friends will honor and remember Barbara's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, February 20th, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Charles Parish, 30 Taylor Street, Waltham, MA 02453.
