Barbara L. McDevitt

Watertown – Mrs. Barbara L. (Caroselli) McDevitt, of Watertown, formerly of Belmont, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at her home. She was 67.

Barbara was born in Boston on January 2, 1943, a daughter of the late Mario and Madelyn (Adams) Caroselli. She was raised in Belmont where she had lived before moving to Watertown thirty-four years ago.

She worked for many years at the Raytheon Credit Union, Farragut Mortgage Company and at Boston Financial Corporation. She also worked for several years at Saint Patrick’s Rectory in Watertown.

Along with her late husband, John P. McDevitt who died in 2003, she was active with many activities hosted by the PFC Charles J. Shutt Detachment of the Marine Corps League in Watertown and at American Legion Post 440 in Newton.

She leaves her children, Kimberly A. McCusker and her husband, Michael, of Westford and Trooper Matthew M. McDevitt, MSP and his wife, Lori, of North Reading; her step-children, Daniel McDevitt of Billerica and Susan McDevitt of Kennebunk, Maine; her grandchildren, Michael, Caitlin, Kristen and Dylan McCusker, Decklan and Kendall McDevitt and Ryan and Emma Church; her sisters, Marcia Lipoma of Watertown, Carol Rausch of Swansea and Judy Keating of Venice, Florida and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the step-mother of the late Kathleen McDevitt and a sister of the late Mario Caroselli and Patricia Itrato.

Family and friends will honor and remember Barbara’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning when her funeral service will be held. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
