Waltham – Mrs. Barbara A. (Tintle) (LaCrosse) Nestor, of Waltham, died Monday, January 27, 2014 in the Waban Health and Rehabilition Center. She was 87. Mrs. Nestor was born in Boston on February 24, 1926, a daughter of the late Paul G. and Edith (Shaw) Tintle.
Barbara was raised in Billerica where she had graduated from Howe High School. She moved to Waltham in 1953 where she lived for many years before moving to South Yarmouth in 1987. Barbara returned to Waltham in 1998.
Until her retirement Barbara was a secretary for Unitrode in Watertown for twenty years. Prior to that, she had worked for the Clevite Company in Waltham. She was a parishioner at Saint Jude Church in Waltham where she was a longtime Eucharistic minister and a former prefect of the Ladies Sodality.
Barbara leaves her children, Cheri A. Gollinger and her husband, John, of Waltham, Theresa M. DeFronzo and her husband, Peter, of Holliston, Dianne M. Lombardi, and her husband, Charles, of Waltham, Stewart J. LaCrosse, Jr. and his wife, Paula, of Waltham, and Peter A. LaCrosse of Ashland; her grandchildren, Eric Gollinger and his wife, Tara, Stephen Gollinger, Elizabeth Gollinger, Alicia Arsenault and her husband, Bryan, Becky LaValley and her husband, Keith, Christopher DeFronzo, Jill Hogan and her husband, Daniel, Anthony Lombardi, Michael Lombardi, James LaCrosse and his wife, Kaitlin, Michael LaCrosse, and Daniel LaCrosse; her step-children, Elizabeth A. Ruhkala of McCall, Idaho, Teresa R. Nestor of Athens, Georgia and Joseph P. Nestor of Waxhaw, North Carolina; her sister, Helen V. Morris of Chelmsford; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was the wife of the late George R. 'Ray' Nestor and the late Stewart J. LaCrosse, Sr. and was a sister of the late Paul G. Tintle, Jr., Richard S. Tintle, Edith M. Powderly, and Alice C. Hollenborg.
Family and friends will honor and remember Barbara's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, January 31st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham.
